Daniel Horrigan was sworn in as Summit County Clerk of Courts
in January of 2007. Dan has Bachelor of Arts degrees in
Economics from Kent State University and Education from the
University of Akron. Prior to being appointed Clerk of Courts, Dan
was elected to four terms as the Ward 1 Councilman for the City
of Akron. While on Akron City Council, Dan chaired the the Public
Utilities Committee and was a senior member of the Planning Committee Committee, the Budget and Finance Committee and the Parks and Recreation Committee. Dan was a fierce advocate for both the residents and businesses located in Ward 1. His leadership led to instrumental projects such as the Highland Square Development initiative, two new libraries for Ward 1, promoting housing initiatives throughout Akron to benefit neighborhoods and protecting the environment and the Cuyahoga River through the Rack 40 project. In addition to serving as Councilman, Dan started the AP Economics program at Stow High School and taught at the high school level for for 10 years at St. Vincents-St. Mary's High School and at Stow High School.
As Clerk of Courts, Dan serves on the Summit County Criminal Justice Advisory Board, Information Technology Board, Records Commission, Board of Revision and the Save Our Homes Task Force. He is a member of the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association (OCCA) and the National Association of Court Management (NACM). Dan was also appointed to a three year term on the Board of Trustees of CYO and Community Services and serves as a volunteer with the North Akron Baseball Association (NABA). Dan and his wife Deanna reside in Akron with their three daughters Cassidy, Kennedy and Camille and are members of St. Anthony's Parish.
